'People are intimidated' - why 'juggernaut' Arsenal have become the team to beat.

It's clear why Arsenal have become numerous fans' preferred choice to secure the Premier League in the current campaign.

Consider their results against Fulham and Crystal Palace compared to those same matches during the prior term.

The Gunners have beaten all of them this time around, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race last season.

Defensive Dominance

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a primary factor why they are looking well positioned to ultimately achieve their title goal.

They stand first for clean sheets (6), goals allowed (3), shots faced (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and xGA (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the best in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Mastery

Their threat from set-pieces is widely recognized, but competing clubs still find it difficult to neutralize the Gunners from these situations.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just wary of them and it is great to see."

Title Potential

What is especially notable about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City on home turf - and are still ahead by four points at the top.

While they maintain victories, their historic competitors aren't faring so well. This marks the first time at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the start, having allocated around £250m on eight summer signings in pursuit of that long-awaited first title since 2004.

But the spending has so far paid off in impressive fashion, with his side one of the most prolific attacks in the league and possessing the most resilient defense, despite several injuries.

  • Unbreached games in three consecutive Premier League games
  • Over six hours without conceding a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and experts have characterized Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now performing with conviction and resolve.
